Welcome to Smart Sonographer

This site is designed for new ultrasound techs and students (and anyone else really) that is excited about ultrasound.

Ultrasound is a widely available, inexpensive and radiation free imaging modality. It can be used to see babies in the womb, but is also frequently used to assess the solid organs and blood vessels in our bodies, everything from the thyroid, salivary glands, carotid arteries, heart, breasts, liver, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, ovaries, uterus, prostate, testicles, leg veins and all sorts of superficial lumps and bumps.

Ultrasound is one of the first imaging options that doctors rely on to assess for many diseases and structural abnormalities as it can view the organs in live motion, see in multiple planes and check blood flow in surrounding tissues.

Chances are if you’ve never had an ultrasound, you will one day. More and more things have been found to be well visualized by ultrasound. It’s an exciting a growing field.

I’ll be sharing informative tips, how-to articles, and much more, on all kinds of ultrasound related topics from ergonomics and pain relief, scanning more confidently, the psychology of our everyday human interactions and how simple it is to do great work in ultrasound everyday.

Smart Sonographer is about sharing expertise, resources and tips & tricks, things that we’ve learned individually, among us all. The ability to make ultrasound awesome lies within each of us and that’s the message I'm here to spread.

Like us on Facebook and lets get started together making ultrasound awesome.

Founder: Tatym Schneider CRS, RDMS

Sonographer, digital artist, and writer.
I'm an ultrasound tech who has a love for interpersonal relationships, teamwork and technology. Everyday I learn more about how much we all just want to be happy, healthy and whole and I'm glad to be a little cog in the big machine of healthcare doing my part to help out. Plus I think that seeing inside people's bodies is just plain nifty.
